WELCOME TO BOTANY DEPARTMENT

History of Botany

Botany Department was started at this institution during the year 1991-92 with the Combination of Botany, Zoology and Chemistry in the Government Junior College , Rayachoty, Kadapa District premises and continued upto 2^nd February, 2005. The College was shifted to New Buildings on 03^rd February, 2005 with limited accommodation.

The Institution primarily affiliated to Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi.From 2009 it is under Yogi Vemana University. and offers instruction to the learners at Under-Graduate Level.

The Department was headed by stalwarts like Sri B. Rama Subba Reddy,Sri Nazeer Ahmed, Sri Reddymuni swamy worked with this Department.

The department has got one well established labs.

Department of Botany students as an Extension activity visits surrounding villages interact with local farmers and Agricultural officers on various issues of agriculture, identification and control of plant pests and helps in addressing the problems.

Future Plans

To start Under graduate BZC Course in E.M from 2019-20. Proposals have already been sent for starting BZC in English Medium.
Planning to Introducing Interdisciplinary undergraduate courses in near future .
Updating the lab equipment , research facilities to conduct basic research and motivating the students towards Research.
To develop ethno botanical and medicinal plant gardens
To organize herbarium of flora of KADAPA District.
